The A685 at Kirkby Stephen was closed by police after a roof began to ‘unravel’ due to high winds yesterday, February 23.
Police and the fire service were called to the Shell garage after the roof of the Spar store began to become loose.
An Eden police spokesman said: “While we shut the road to keep everyone safe from any escaping debris, the fire service made sure that all loose parts were removed or secured down.
“While conducting traffic control, a number of HGVs were checked to see if they had the right documentation to be travelling along the A685, thankfully all had the correct paperwork.”
