Police have appealed for the public’s help to trace an iPhone as they continue the search for former Appleby Grammar School student Sophie Burns.
Cumbria Constabulary released more information this afternoon in the latest of several appeals made to locate the 28-year-old amid concerns for her welfare.
Sophie was last seen in the Dalton Crescent area of Carlisle on Sunday, December 12. She is described as 5ft 3in tall, of slim build with long brown hair. She was last seen wearing black joggers, black hoody, black Berghaus gilet, black Adidas cap and white Nike Air Force 1 trainers.
“Cumbria police have carried out extensive searches of (Carlisle’s) Bitts Park, Sheepmount and surrounding areas in the ongoing search for Sophie Burns,” said a spokesman.
The investigation has been strategically coordinated by specialist officers and has to date involved numerous actions. These include searching specific areas, investigating and gathering intelligence, and working with partner agencies and specialist search teams, including dog units.
“We would urge anyone with information on Sophie’s whereabouts — who has yet to make contact with police — to please get in touch immediately. Even if you feel the information you have is small or insignificant, it could help us build a bigger picture, which could help us to find Sophie,” said the spokesman.
“As part of the investigation, Cumbria police are appealing for information to locate an iPhone. The phone is believed to have been lost in the Bitts Park area around December 12.”
