A man in his 70s has died following a two-vehicle collision on the A66 near Kirkby Thore yesterday.
Police were called at around 5.55am yesterday to the incident which involved a Honda car and a HGV.
The driver of the Honda motor car was treated at scene by paramedics and taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
The driver, a man in his 70s from Leeds died shortly after reaching hospital.
The driver of the HGV was uninjured.
Specialist officers are investigating the collision and are supporting the families of those involved.
The A66 was closed for a number of hours while a forensic examination of the scene was conducted and the vehicles recovered.
Police are appealing for any witnesses, especially if you they dashcam and were in the area around the time of the collision.
