An installation of 10,000 ceramic daffodils at Lowther Castle has already raised over £300,000 for six charities – and now is your chance to buy specially-made larger flowers at an auction.
Ten Thousand Daffodils, the brainchild of Dockray-based potter Helen Ratcliffe, has been wowing the crowds at the popular attraction since it opened in April.
People could buy the smaller daffodils to help raise cash for Another WAy, Sunbeans Music Trust, Friends of Ullswater Way, Ullswater Catchment Management CIC, The New Horizon youth Centre in London and James’ Place in Liverpool and London.
Now, the larger pieces – by former MP Rory Stewart, campaigning environmentalist and writer James Rebanks, award-winning garden designer Dan Pearson MBE, Jim Lowther, owner of Lowther Castle, Ten Thousand Daffodils mastermind Helen; professional potters Jim Robison, William Plumptre and Mary Chappelhow; seven-year-old Matilda Windross of Greystoke Brownies and 11-year-old Nia Griffiths of Morland Primary School, will be available to buy via online auction from June 17 to June 24.
They will raise cash for other charities, including Hospice at Home, GiveDirectly and RAZOM for Ukraine.
The auction is being held by H&H Auction Rooms of Carlisle. Visit tenthousanddaffodils.org/auction for more information.
