Christmas shoppers are getting an early present from Eden Council, which is offering free Saturday parking in its car parks from the end of this month.
The free parking will cover the four Saturdays before Christmas, starting from Saturday November27.
Due to bank holidays, Saturday parking charges will return on Saturday January 8 2022.
People are reminded that they may still have to pay for on-street parking and car parks owned by other companies, and should check local parking enforcement arrangements before travelling.
Councillor Mike Tonkin, services portfolio holder at Eden District Council, lent his support for the initiative.
He said: “The suspension of car parking charges at Eden car parks is welcomed and continues a long standing tradition.”
