Businesses are being asked to donated up to £1,000 to bring some festive cheer to Cumbria’s hospitals.
The trust which runs the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and Whitehaven’s West Cumberland Hospital, plus community hospitals in north Cumbria, has launched a Winter Heroes campaign so firms can show their support for NHS heroes.
The NHS does not have a budget for Christmas decorations, so the North Cumbria Hospitals NHS Charity, aims to bring some Christmas cheer to the the sites.
It will also raise funds for the charity, which provides resources and facilities to meet the needs of patients and their families, and the wellbeing of staff. The charity covers costs of projects and initiatives which are not covered by core NHS funding.
Clare Warwick, charity fundraising lead at the trust, said: “The last 18 months have undoubtedly been one of the toughest periods in the history of the NHS, but the acts of kindness shown to us here at the trust have given everyone a huge morale boost.
“We have a range of activities planned as part of the winter festival and we need your help to make them happen. We want to ensure all our premises have a Christmas tree with lights, we want to project Stars onto our two main hospitals and we want to be able to offer staff the chance of winning some prizes as part of our advent calendar campaign.”
There are three packages available for donors:
Package 1 £250 – Christmas tree
You can sponsor a 6ft Christmas tree and lights that will be put up and showcased outside your chosen hospital, including our community hospitals. The firm’s logo will be displayed on the tree.
Package 2 £600 – Star lights
You can sponsor the star lights, which will be projected on the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.
Package 3 £1,000 – Star lights and wellbeing event
You can sponsor the star lights, a prize for our staff advent calendar and you will receive 25 places on the Million Steps Wellbeing event for your own staff (worth nearly £500). The Million Steps Challenge starts on January 1.
The trust says all donations will be promoted by it across its social media sites and press releases.
