Firefighters spent five hours tackling a waste fire near Penrith.
Three fire engines were called to Flusco at around 3.05pm yesterday.
A spokesman said a large quantity of waste, measuring 50m by 100m, was well alight.
Firefighters used three main line jets and one hose reel jet to tackle the blaze.
