Shoppers at Cranstons are helping a vital emergency service keep flying.
The family food firm donates a proportion of its profits to four Cumbrian charities every year and David Law, Cranstons’ production manager, visited the Great North Air Ambulance’s base at Langwathby to hand over £4,350.
Last year, the Great North Air Ambulance Service attended over 1,620 incidents- bringing critical care and pioneering technology, techniques and drugs to the scene.
The average cost of a call out is about £4,135 and the charity needs to raise almost £7 million a year. It is not NHS funded and rely solely on the generosity of supporters.
David said: “It was so good to hear about the pioneering critical care service provided by the air ambulance team and to learn about their day to day responsibilities. The air ambulance is absolutely vital to Cumbria’s rural communities and we all need to support it – they do an amazing job.”
Lee Salmon, paramedic and head of operations West, said: “We rely entirely on donations and couldn’t continue our work without our supporters so we are very grateful for Cranstons’ support.”
