Cumbrian food champions and master butchers Cranstons are offering Eden shoppers the chance to buy a whole range of locally produced groceries without stepping foot in their shops.

Cranstons’ contactless click and car park collect service was set up to help anyone who feels uncomfortable physically shopping in the current public health crisis access tasty local produce.

Alongside Cranstons’ own locally farmed meats and fresh pies, salads and cooked meats made in Cranstons’ Penrith production kitchen, shoppers can enjoy produce from several other Eden food producers including:

  • The Toffee Shop
  • North Lakes Milk
  • The Lakes Free Range Eggs
  • Country Flavour preserves
  • Mr Vikki’s chutneys
  • Traybakes Ltd

Martin Jones, deputy managing director, said: “We know customers are currently anxious about physically shopping so wanted to offer a uniquely local click + collect grocery service, giving customers a contactless shopping experience and the opportunity to buy the quality local produce they love.

“We are really pleased to be able to offer a modern click + collect service for both our own goods and goods from fellow Eden and Cumbrian food businesses.

“Click + collect doesn’t have to mean generic supermarket food!”

In addition to all the food produced within Eden, shoppers can enjoy traditional Cumbrian classics like Bryson’s Plum Bread, Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding and Loweswater Gold Ale and new local favourites Bruce and Luke’s Coffee and Lakeland Mues.

Fyne Fish who operate the fish counter at the Cumbrian Food Hall are also involved so customers can choose fresh fish and their much loved made in-house smoked salmon pate.

The online shop, which also has a dedicated phoneline allows people to shop from the comfort of their own homes and pay in advance, customers can then select their preferred day and collection time.

Collections can be made from the Cumbrian Food Hall car park or Orton Grange and Brampton Food Hall car parks with options from Tuesday to Saturday, am and pm.

Martin added: “We originally set this service up for those who were self-isolating but we are delighted to have been able to open it up to everyone.

“Our short local supply chains and strong relationship with local suppliers mean we can offer hundreds of collection slots a week.

“Customers struggling to get delivery or click and collect slots with the major retailers will find they can often get a slot within a day or two at Cranstons.’’

All Cranstons’ six shops are open for customer who want to visit the shop.

If you feel you would benefit from the contactless click + collect service, visit www.clickcollect.cranstons.net or telephone 01768 807 148.

The phoneline is open Monday to Friday 9am to 11am.
