Santa is set to make an early socially-distanced visit to children in Appleby next month, bringing festive cheer in difficult times.
Volunteers from Appleby Community Acting Together got on a special Santa hotline to the North Pole to get in touch and have arranged for him to visit children around Appleby on Saturday, 12th and Sunday, 13th December.
The festive visit will see Santa deliver an early Christmas present to children who are of nursery or primary school age and live in Appleby.
Donna Park, a volunteer with the ACAT community group, said the idea came about after the forced cancellation of this year’s annual Appleby Sparkle Day.
“We felt because Sparkle Day wasn’t happening there won’t be a grotto like we normally do and the kids have missed out on so much we wanted to do something,” she said.
The doorstep Santa visits must be booked in advance by messaging the Appleby Community Acting Together Facebook page — and already 150 children are set to have a special visit from the man in red.
The deadline for bookings is Monday, 30th November.
