Rheged will reopen fully on Monday at 8.30am.
The meeting place, cafe, cinema and gallery near Penrith will welcome back visitors as Step Three of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown is reached.
Breakfast will be served from 8.30am on opening day in the new 100-seater cafe and its new deli will also be open.
A spokesman said: “Shoppers who’ve missed Rheged’s clothing, design and lifestyle collections can begin browsing again at 9am. Curated for Cumbrian life but inspired by craft, design and talent from far and wide, Rheged’s shops are stocked with niche British makers, ethical brands and items that simply bring joy.”
Rheged’s giant-screen cinema opens in time for the release of the triple-Oscar-winning Nomadland and the long-awaited sequel Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway will be among the highlights of a family-friendly programme.
The team added it was delighted to reopen indoor play to children aged one to eight on Monday.
Parents and carers can book for 90-minute sessions, which are limited to small numbers to facilitate enhanced hygiene – the play area will be thoroughly cleaned between each play session.
Outdoor play remains closed for now pending maintenance.
Rheged’s landmark annual Great Print exhibition has been extended to June 13. The biggest exhibition of its kind in the UK, now in its sixth year, it was forced to close less than a month after opening when the UK went into a third lockdown in January.
Now comes a second opportunity to enjoy this unique insight into the printmaker’s art, featuring works by 65 UK artists – including nine from Cumbria – displayed by technique.
More than 900 prints are available to view and buy, each one a unique piece of original art. Entry is free but booking is required to ensure social distancing. Book online at rheged.com or at the ticket desk upon arrival.
Sarah Dunning, chair of Westmorland Family, which owns and operates Rheged, said: “After months in lockdown we are thrilled to welcome people back to our new cafe, new exhibition, new films, play area and shops this summer.
“The whole team is looking forward to seeing people enjoy shared experiences and relish coming together again with friends, colleagues and loved ones.”
