Three holiday let houses could be created at Dacre as part of a farm diversification.
Plans have been submitted to the Lake District National Park Authority for Hesket Farm, Dacre.
They seek to change the use of some unused stone-built agricultural barns.
The application, by Harry and Wendy Vickers, aims to “sympathetically” convert the barns into a two-bedroom holiday property, a three-bedroom property and a four-bedroom let.
There would also be parking spaces for up to nine cars.
Documents submitted to the LDNPA by Ian Cleasby, of Tirril, on behalf of the applicants, said the barns are “no longer of use” and without conversion will fall into disrepair and become a financial drain.
The change of use the applicant is seeking will have a “very limited adverse effect” on the appearance of the barns, or surrounding area, according to documents submitted with the application.
The development would also “ensure they are kept in good condition and provide a year round income to keep a family member employed on the farm while helping out with the holiday lets”.
The 150-acre sheep and beef farm, accessed down the C3037 road which joins Dacre to the east, and Thackthwaite to the west, has 300 breeding sheep and 20 beef cows.
The LDNPA will make a decision about the application in due course.
