A man who was arrested after allegedly throwing shotgun cartridges into the grounds of Buckingham Palace has been identified as a Cumbrian dog breeder.
National newspapers are alleging that 60-year-old David Huber was the man who triggered a massive security alert on Tuesday at around 7pm.
The Sun has claimed he bred Hungarian Vizlas at his remote cottage overlooking the Cumbrian fells.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon after he was searched and a knife was found. There were no reports of any injuries and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
The Met Police’s deputy assistant commissioner Ade Adelekan said the man approached police asking to see a soldier, but was told that was not possible. He then began to throw cartridges over the gates.
While arrested, he told officers they should handle his rucksack with care, leading to a controlled explosion being carried out, Mr Adelekan said.
