An 80-year-old man reported missing on Sunday afternoon has been found safe and well by a wildlife photographer.
North Yorkshire police said that the woman had seen their appeal for information about Harry Harvey, of Tynemouth, who had disappeared while walking in a group to the Tan Hill pub.
She noticed Mr Harvey waving at her from the direction of Keld.
“This is fantastic news that Harry has been found safe and well,” said Inspector Mark Gee, of North Yorkshire police.
“I want to thank all the search volunteers for their time, as well as gamekeepers, estate owners, farmers and local residents for their help and understanding.
“Thanks also to the Tan Hill, who looked after the volunteers and Mr Harvey’s family.”
Police had been extremely concerned for the welfare of Mr Harvey who went missing in cold and wet conditions at around 1.30pm on Sunday.
