Young farmers met with the fiance of Hannah Brown, a Dufton farmer who died aged 26 last month.
Skipton mart operator CCM Auctions had agreed to auction two sheep donated in memory of Ms Brown and her partner Ben Richardson asked for the money raised to be donated to Eden Valley YFC.
A total of £2,240 was realised at the sale.
Eden Valley YFC chairman Tom Barker, club president Catherine Chappelhow, member Warren Porter and southern district president Alan Barker, travelled to the mart to express the club’s gratitude to — and support of — Mr Richardson and his daughter Millie, of Ghyll House, Dufton.
A pure-bred Blue Texel gimer hogg was donated by Hywel Williams and was sold five times in total, being purchased in turn and reoffered by W and M Bland, Robert Atkinson, Andrew Philips, Martin and Val Brown and eventually Karen and David Shuttleworth, who have named it Millie.
Second up was a Swaledale ewe with a Mule gimmer lamb donated by Richard Lancaster.
It sold three times in all, firstly by Harry Wood, then CCM and finally I and P Brown.
Mr Richardson expressed his wish that all the money raised from the sale of the and the be donated to Eden Valley YFC.
Mr Barker thanked him on behalf of the club for this generous donation.
It is Mr Richardson’s wish that if Millie ever wishes to join the YFC movement, then hopefully the Eden Valley club will still be there to welcome her.
