Four men from the North East were arrested after police received a report of a quad bike having been stolen in the Asby area.
Police received a call at around 5.50pm on Sunday, reporting a quad bike having been stolen near Appleby.
Operations support and neighbourhood policing team officers attended and arrested four men aged between 28 and 36 on suspicion of theft.
Officers also recovered the quad bike and two other vehicles – one suspected of being stolen and one used in the alleged theft.
Officers in Kendal and Eden CID interviewed all four males and presented the case to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Daniel Hann, 28, of Bede Terrace, Bowburn, County Durham has been charged with burglary, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
John Hall, 36, of Easington Lane, Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland, has been charged with burglary and possession of cocaine.
Two other men were bailed with conditions not to enter Cumbria.
Cumbria police said: “Officers would also like to express their gratitude to members of the public who have assisted in the investigation so far, including by providing dashcam footage.
“The arrests are the latest in a series of people suspected of targeting rural communities.”
