A dog show and dog walk have helped raise more than £3,000 for Eden Animal Rescue.
A dog walk around Derwentwater has already raised £1,215.25 and funds are still coming in from supporters.
Sarah Harrison-Wyatt, Vicki Broughton and Alex Bowness set off from Keswick, voted the most dog friendly town on Saturday, May 25, to raise money for a new kennel block for Eden Animal Rescue
Their online Just Giving account hit the £1,215.25 mark plus more than £130 has been collected in cash to add to the amount.
And a dog show at Greystoke Castle on Sunday, May 26, raised more than £2,000 towards the general running costs of the charity’s work caring for dogs, cats and other animals. A stall dedicated to the Kennel Fund also raised an additional £87.
Chair of Eden Animal Rescue, Chris Cheetham said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in our fundraising weekend. It has been a great achievement to raise so much to ensure we can continue to care for the animals and improve our facilities at our centre.
“We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped on both Saturday and Sunday at the dog show, without their help, the event couldn’t have taken place.
“And big thank you goes to Sarah, Vicki and Alex and their 11-mile sponsored walk which will make a great difference to our fundraising for the Kennel Fund.”
The charity is working to raise £500,000 to fund to create a new kennel block at their centre at Moorlands Head Farm in Newbiggin, near Temple Sowerby.
