I can’t believe another Raven deadline has come round already, and the season is now in full swing.
The first team have had a few tough fixtures since the last issue which have seen us exit the senior cup, but beat the current league champions: 3/10 Windermere (h) senior cup. Lost 7-4 (after extra time).
This game was played in monsoon conditions which never eased throughout the match, leaving your intrepid reporter soaked to the skin!
Despite the conditions this was an entertaining game, with K’o being the better side for a lot of the game and leading twice only for Windermere to come back strongly and make the score 2-2 forcing extra time to be played.
Goals rained in during this half hour period, unfortunately most being at the wrong end meaning we lost with a final score of 7-4.
10/10 Keswick (h). Won 2-1. An excellent victory against what is always one of our toughest fixtures. The lads played some fantastic football, dominating large periods of the game and should probably have won by a more comfortable margin.
17/10 Wetheriggs (a) Lost4-0. Well beaten by a very strong Wetheriggs side who look to be strong favourites for the title this season.
After drawing their first two league games, the reserves have had a good few weeks, winning their next two games which has pushed them up the league table, swell as progressing in the Westmorland Junior cup.
26/9 Lunesdale (h) won 3-0. A very comfortable victory in a game dominated from start to finish against a decent Lunesdale team who never gave up.
17/10 Wetheriggs (a) won4-0. This was a tough fixture away to an improved wetheriggs side who were unbeaten and top of the league.
With the reserves having had their game called off the previous week ,the worry was they might be a bit rusty.
These fears were quickly allayed however as K’o came out of the blocks quickly, matching Wetheriggs’ physical approach as well as playing some quality football and winning comfortably.
24/10 Cartmel Reserves (h) Junior Cup. Won 2-1. An excellent victory to progress into the next round. Despite going a goal down , the in-form reserves showed great character to come back and win against a Cartmel team who play in the division above us.
