An investigation has been launched following a fire which is believed to have been started deliberately at Appleby.
Firefighters from Appleby were called at 5pm on Tuesday following reports of a small fire in the area near the town’s Jubilee Bridge.
A Facebook post from Appleby fire station said: “The fire looks to have been started deliberately and information/evidence has been handed over to Cumbria police.
“Deliberate fires take us off the run and stop us from responding to more serious incidents and potentially life-threatening emergency response.
“We’re lucky to not be called to deliberate fires frequently in our area, and work closely with local schools and businesses to educate on fire prevention and safety.”
