More vandalism has been caused to Penrith’s Christmas lights.
Last night police received a report that criminal damage had been caused to the festive lights in the town’s Poet’s Walk between 11pm and midnight.
In a tweet, a spokesman for Discover Penrith said: “Sorry it’s a bit dark down Poet’s Walk tonight.
“Someone decided to swing from the Christmas lights, pulling them down and breaking them in the process.
“The damage has been reported to the police and if any guardian angels can help with finding the culprit then please let us know.”
This latest act of vandalism follows on from damage which was caused to one of Penrith’s iconic Christmas angels in the town centre between December 17 and 19.
Cables have also been cut on the decorations, which cost £1,300 each, with funding from town businesses.
After that happened, a town council spokeswoman said: “It is sad that individuals think that this sort of damage is acceptable behaviour.
“Unfortunately there is no more money to repair them and if it happens again they will need to be removed and may not come back.
“Please look after and respect the Christmas decorations that are paid for by Penrith businesses and are organised and installed by volunteers.”
