The loss of a popular Alston cafe is being opposed by some town residents, a meeting heard.
Irene and Edward Robson have applied to Eden Council for approval to change the use of Blueberry’s cafe to residential use after closing the Market Place-based business at the end of August.
That plan was discussed at a meeting of Alston Moor Parish Council last night where councillors voted in favour of lodging an objection to the planning application.
Parish council chairman Norman English said: “There has been an awful lot of discussion on social media.”
He added that there had been a survey done by the Alston Moor Business Association and at the present time their recommendation was to oppose the change of use.
