Penrith’s Northern League game at home to Seaham Red Star on Saturday has been called off.
The club has been hit by a series of COVID-19 infections, although it has mainly affected officials.
The chairman and secretary are among a number of club volunteers who have been laid low and are isolating.
Manager Dave Hewson, who himself missed three games while he was affected, said: “I don’t think people realise just how much work behind the scenes the volunteers in football clubs like Penrith do.
“It’s just impossible to put on a game at this level without them, which is why we have had to contact the League and explain the situation.
“Some of our volunteers work virtually 24/7 for the club and they are obviously a big miss.
“We were looking forward to playing again after a good away win in the FA Vase but it can’t be helped.
“After a decent start to the season we’ve had a number of injuries and myself being missing for three matches hasn’t helped, but that’s not an excuse. We know where we need to improve and we are goingtodo that.”
Penrith are currently next-to-bottom of the First Division and are a point behind Seaham, but with no new date announced for their visit to Frenchfields.
Their next game will be on Saturday, September 25 when they will visit Northallerton Town in the next round of the FA Vase following their win at Ilkley.
