Penrith’s Greggs shop is closed after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19, the company has confirmed.
A sign appeared on its door on Tuesday telling potential customers that it had to temporarily close the Devonshire Street shop.
The sign gives the location of the nearest open Greggs shop, in Carlisle, but does not state why the one in Penrith is closed.
It said it will reopen on Sunday from 8.30am to 2,30pm and normal hours will resume on Monday, August 2.
A Greggs spokesman said: “A team member from our Penrith shop has tested positive for COVID-19 and all those required to do so are self-isolating while we work with relevant authorities.
“We have COVID-secure measures in place across all sites and have undertaken a full cleaning of the shop, which is closed until Sunday, August 1.”
