Emergency services are resuming a search this morning for a man in Crummock Water.
Emergency services were called at around 1pm yesterday with reports that two people who had got into difficulty in the water.
They immediately began searching the area but paused the search at around 11pm last night.
They have resumed this morning.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue, North West Ambulance Service, mountain rescue, the Coastguard and North West Police Underwater search team are currently assisting Cumbria police.
Officers are again urging people to avoid the area while emergency services conduct their searches.
Road closures continue to be in place while searches are ongoing, closures are at Lorton Junction, B5289/B5292 and the B5289/ Newlands Pass.
A spokesman said: “We are asking for those affected by the disruption to be patient as searches are expected to be ongoing for the foreseeable future.”
