Fire chiefs are warning people to make sure they buy electrical items from an approved seller following a house blaze in Shap.
Crews from Shap and Penrith were called to a fire at a home in Shap on Friday.
Penrith Fire Station said: “Thankfully the owner discovered the fire early and was able to close the door on the fire and call 999 immediately preventing it from becoming much worse.
“The source of the fire appeared to be solar panels which had been bought from eBay, along with the charger regulator.
“Can we please remind you all to make sure you have working smoke alarms in your property. Please also make sure you purchase electrical items from an approved seller who conform to British Standards and have them installed by qualified persons where applicable.”
