There is heavy traffic on the B5305 around the entrance and in Penrith, holiday traffic is adding to the congestion.
There are long delays on the A66 both ways around Junction 40, congestion to the Rheged roundabout and past the Kemplay Bank roundabout.
There are traffic queues on the exit slip road of at Junction 41, Catterlen, adding delays on to the M6 southbound. The A6 through Penrith is also affected as traffic is using this road to avoid the motorway.
