The opening date for Penrith’s newest fast food restaurant has been revealed.
Work has continued to transform the former KFC branch on Bridge Lane into a Tim Hortons and signs were erected recently – but bosses were keeping tight-lipped over the opening date.
Now, the chain has announced that the restaurant and drive-thru will open on December 15, creating up to 50 jobs.
The Canadian firm sells coffee, doughnuts, burgers and toasted sandwiches.
Tim Hortons has over 50 branches in the UK and Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said: “We have a huge fan base in the North of England, so we are particularly excited to bring Tim Hortons to Penrith for the first time.
The brand, known affectionately as Timmy’s, was founded in 1964 in Ontario and now has 4,500 stores.
The KFC branch closed its doors in May after the lease on the building ran out and was not renewed. At the time, KFC said it hoped it would reopen.
