
A teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision between a van and a horse-drawn cart.
Emergency services were called at around 10.50pm yesterday to the A6 between Penrith and Milestone House.
It involved a Black Mercedes Vito and a Horse pulling a lightweight cart, called a sulky. The collision occurred on the northbound carriageway.
A 16-year-old boy, who was on the sulky, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, with serious injuries. They are not believed to be life-threatening. Two other people who were on the sulky suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes suffered minor injuries.
