TV star Robson Green has been filming in Eden as part of his Weekend Escapes series.
Robson was joined by fellow actor Mark Benton as the pair took a horse drawn holiday with Wanderlusts Gypsy Caravans, wanting to experience a little of the traditions of the gypsy way of life in the run-up to Appleby Horse Fair.
The two actors spent a day travelling the lanes by horse and wagon, stopping off for drinks at Melmerby’s Shepherd’s Inn, before spending an evening cooking and singing traditional songs round the fire with local musician Paddy Rogan and Wanderlusts owner, Barny Maurice.
They then settled in for the night by the stream at Wanderlusts’ Blackthorn Camp in a bowtop wagon and an old Billy Smarts Circus wagon.
Robson was up at the crack of dawn to light the fire outside for a morning brew.
The journey and evening was filmed by a 10-strong crew, for BBC2s series Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes. At the end of filming the crew were provided with a feast from The Fox Inn, Ousby.
