Towns and villages across Eden paused on Remembrance Sunday to honour those who have lost their lives in service of their country.
In Penrith, a parade led by the town band made its way through the town to the tolling of church bells.
Taking part were representatives of the armed forces, dignitaries and organisations including the Royal British Legion, as well as uniformed youth organisations including Army and RAF cadets.
Those taking part walked the length of the town’s high street, before parading into St Andrew’s Church for a special service of remembrance.
In Appleby, Kirkby Stephen, Alston and many villages, wreaths were laid at war memorials, and the names of the fallen read aloud.
