A Penrith woman accused of illegally producing almost two dozen cannabis plants is to stand trial.
Laura Robinson, 42, of Castle Terrace, faced one charge when she appeared in front of a district judge at Carlisle magistrates’ court this afternoon.
This alleges the illegal production of 23 plants of cannabis — a controlled class B drug — between January 1 and April 11 of 2020.
In court, Robinson confirmed her identity and pleaded not guilty when the charge was put to her by a legal advisor.
Prosecutor Pam Fee provided a short outline of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the plants.
Kate Hunter, defending, said the issue taken with the prosecution case was that Robinson was “not involved” in any illegal production.
Robinson will stand trial at the magistrates’ court on June 20. In the meantime, she was granted unconditional bail by the district judge, John Temperley.
