A new shop has opened its doors to the public that hopes to offer a different approach to health and wellbeing.
Inner and Outer Wellbeing has set up across the road from The George Hotel in Penrith town centre offering modern methods to health issues such as weight, anxiety and depression.
Michael Boone, of Eamont Bridge, says excitement is beginning to build about the new shop. After growing up in Florida, Michael moved to Cumbria last March after previously living in Essex.
The new shop is centred on Ayurveda, an alternative medicine with historical roots in India.
“Since I’ve been 25 I’ve been fighting against ageing,” said the 50-year-old. “It’s one of the things in life we have no control over and I want to put as much brake on as possible. I want to live a very healthy long life, so I’d rather have quality over quantity.
“That’s why I gravitate towards organic products and things that are going to help and be beneficial in aiding and supporting longevity. My main focus is anti-ageing.
“Anything we put on our bodies, like skincare, shouldn’t be something that you wouldn’t first put on your tongue.
“Those basic principles of what you put in is what you get out of your body and they are very specific about doshas, which is body types.

“There are certain things that balance those body types out. Like a person that is quite thin they typically have cold hands and cold feet, they tend to be anxious, they tend to be talkative.
“Pitta individuals can be quite fiery and determined and then Kapha individuals would be more rounded people.”
Michael uses these categories to determine a plan for the individual. A diet, exercise and lifestyle plan is then established aimed at achieving the person’s goals.
Massages, hypnotherapy and skincare treatments will also be offered on site, with Michael also tapping into a professional doctor who can offer medical support via online consultations.
“If I can’t help I will find someone who can,” added Michael.
