The MP for Penrith has called on the Government to go further in helping Ukrainian refugees.
Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border said: “It is encouraging that the Government has been looking to expand the possibilities to help Ukrainian refugees but I am urging the Government to go further and markedly widen the access for people fleeing this awful situation in Ukraine.
“I have made representations to the Home Secretary on this. I would urge the UK to work with our friends and allies in Europe to offer safe haven for these stricken folk. I urge us to be collaborative, practical and compassionate as we look to offer sanctuary to those who need it, not just those with links to the UK and its citizens.
“I want the UK to move quickly and compassionately in this and that widening the visa system will be looked at as a matter of priority.”
