Opera North is bringing its music to Eden – and audiences can pay what they think their performance is worth.
In a rare opportunity, the renowned Chorus of Opera North will be performing at Penrith Town Hall from 7pm on Friday July 15 and at The Hive in Nenthead from 6.30pm on Saturday July 16.
They will be performing music ranging from Monteverdi and Fauré to Gershwin and Cole Porter, plus some songs inspired by home – wherever that may be. And audiences do not have to pay until they have seen the show and can decide what they think the show was worth.
Pay What You Decide not only allows people to pay what they can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but also removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for a show in advance without knowing whether they are going to enjoy it or not. Tickets are available to book in advance as usual, but there is no obligation for customers to pay until after they have seen the show.
Opera North is a national opera company and a leading UK arts organisation. With a roster of award-winning work touring theatre stages and concert halls throughout the UK and overseas, Opera North’s aim is to make bold, innovative, ambitious work and share it in new ways.

The performances are supported by Eden District Council under its new Inspiring Eden Arts & Culture Programme.
