It has been revealed that the man who died in the River Eden on Saturday, was a 40-year-old from Workington.
Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to the incident and are asking for people who may have seen a number of men in boats near Lazonby at around 3.20pm that day to get in touch.
The body of the man was found following a multi-agency search operation.
This was carried out after officers received a report of concern for the welfare of a man who had gone into the water while out in a boat.
The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and officers are set to prepare a file for the coroner.
Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact PC 2221 Brownrigg on 101, referring to incident 152 of April 3.
