A man was assaulted in a village woodland and police are appealing for information.
A spokesman said: “Police are investigating a reported assault on a male in the area of Coombs Wood, Armathwaite and are undertaking enquiries to understand the full circumstances of the incident.”
Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in Coombs Wood between 11am and 3.30pm on Sunday October 9.
Police would especially like to speak to two women dog walkers who were seen walking separately in the woods around 3pm to help with enquiries.
One dog walker was described as white, middle-aged, around 5ft 5in with brown shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a purple waterproof coat and had a small white dog on stretchy lead.
The second female is described as white, 5ft 8in, with blonde shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a red coat and had a black, medium sized dog on a lead.
Anyone who was in the woods at this time is asked to contact police via www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it or call 101.
