A Penrith woman who broke COVID lockdown rules by having people in her home has been landed with a £2,021 court bill.
Charlotte Stephanie Fry, 32, of Victoria House, Victoria Road, was charged with participating in a gathering of two or more people at her home on 19th February 19 while Cumbria was in the grip of Tier 4 COVID regulations.
The charge was proved in Fry’s absence at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this week.
She was fined £1,760 and ordered to pay a £176 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
A further charge was listed against her of the same nature, alleged to have been committed by Fry days later on February 22 at flats on Carleton Road.
However the charge was dismissed after the court heard Fry was in a communal entrance and not seen within the flat meaning there was insufficient evidence.
Also charged with committing the offence at Victoria House on February 19 was Darren Jacques, 39, of Hutton Hill, Penrith.
The offence was again proved in his absence and Jacques ordered to pay a £2,021 court bill.
A further Penrith resident to be charged with breaking the COVID lockdown restrictions was Eren Turgay Zihni, 37, of Carleton Road.
Zihni was charged with breaching the Tier 4 restrictions by participating in a gathering of people at his home on February 22.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £320 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
