A man has been arrested after a police crackdown on drug dealing in the area around a Penrith church.
In response to residents’ concerns about people dealing drugs in the area around St Andrew’s Church, Eden Police talked to local residents to understand more about the problem.
Officers increased the amount of foot patrols in the area at the relevant times, conducted plain clothes patrols around the churchyard and the wider town centre area and conducted stop searches.
As a result, a man was arrested for possession with intent to supply controlled drugs, police seized cash, drugs and mobile phones, conducted premises searches and provided referrals to NHS drug diversion services.
Eden Police said they were continuing to monitor the situation and will continue to take action against those dealing drugs and acting anti-socially in Penrith town centre.
