In light of #StormEunice we have taken the decision to close the #A66 at midnight tonight between #ScotchCorner & #Penrith . The storm has high winds & snow forecast. This can lead to very difficult conditions over the tops particularly when it drifts. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/goE99oxNKA
A second tweet from National Highways said: “We have got our ploughs and snow blowers ready. We will be working hard to keep the road clear and look to open again in the morning of the 18th, as soon as we can be sure it is safe to do so.
“This method allows us to get our kit through safely whilst protecting road users.”
