A public examination of the £1 billion scheme to create a full dual carriageway from Penrith to Scotch Corner is underway.
Richard Allen, who has been appointed as the lead member of the examining authority, opened the hearing today at The Witham, at Barnard Castle
Today’s session is a hearing looking at alternative route options, including a special agenda item to examine the reasons for discounting the northern route which campaigners in Eden have been pushing for at an early stage.
