Cumbria’s latest food festival will serve up a mouth-watering line-up of Michelin star chefs next month.

54 Degrees North, a festival of food and fire, takes place in the Eden Valley from May 5 to May 7.

Some of the region’s top Michelin rated chefs are stepping out of their kitchens, as they bring their interpretation of live fire cooking to life, serving up innovative menus that are guaranteed to wow diners at a series of unique pop-ups.

hefs including Forest Side’s Paul Leonard, The Old Stamp House’s Ryan Blackburn, Heft’s Kevin Tickle and The Dog & Gun’s Ben Queen-Fryer will all serve up feasts at the event at Into the Woods

They’ll also be joined by the likes of the Black Bull’s Top 50 UK gastropub chef Nina Matsunaga, and 1863’s rosetted chef Phil Corrie, who will also serve up sensational fire feast food cooked on top notch kit crafted by top-flight artisans; including Jason Sudborough, Ironbrand Smokers leading flame wrangler and Savage BBQ Living’s fire cage impresario Ed Brown.

Some of the nation’s best live fire chefs are also getting set to gather at the festival site near Little Salkeld, including Cross Fire Cooking’s living flame legend Matt Cross; Pythouse Kitchen Garden’s foraging, fermenting and fire feast specialist Darren Broom; BearBQ fire tamer Keith Burrowes; Elote & Chuck’s grill legend Lewis Spencer and Yonder’s fire cooked sourdough pizza supremo Sam Farrer.

The stellar chef line-up is part of a festival weekend firmly focussed on quality produce including traditional rare breed meats farmed and produced by Lakeland Dexter, artisan craft beers created by Lakes Brew Co, bakery delights by multi-award winning More? Artisan Bakery, freshly roasted artisan coffees from True North Coffee, organic cheese and butter from Torpenhow Farmhouse Dairy, organic vegetables lovingly grown and produced by River Cottage Farm (Cumbria) alongside an array of other top-quality producers, showcasing everything from pasta to spirits.

Tunes will be provided by live bands and top DJs, who will be keeping the vibe going throughout the weekend, as each day and night of the festival features a different theme as part of the jam-packed programme from fireside chats to full-on party.

Across the weekend River Cottage’s artisan smoking and curing expert Steven Lamb will play host to an array of expert discussions and demos, all designed to fully immerse guests in the art of fire cooking, drilling down and focusing on traditional and rare breed meats, butchery skills, pickling, preserving, curing and much more, as farmers, butchers and chefs tell the story of our food and share their insider knowledge.

There’s a huge kids area too, with loads of activities to keep little ones entertained, with everything from face painting to bouncy castles.

And to mark the coronation of King Charles III, the event will be live screened, giving people the opportunity to raise a glass and mark this once in a lifetime event as they toast the monarch with a a glass of bubbles or perhaps specially curated Coronation cocktail, crafted by leading mixologist the Blind Bus Driver.
