MARSHALL. — Suddenly, at Stobars Hall Care Home, Kirkby Stephen, on Sunday, 26th February, Mary (formerly of Rowgate, Kirkby Stephen). She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Aged 95 years. Funeral service at Eden Valley Crematorium, on Monday, 27th March, at 2pm. POWELL. — Suddenly, at The Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, on Monday, 6th March, Derek, of Appleby, dearly loved husband of the late Gladys, much loved dad of Mike, father-in-law of Pam and grandad of Emily and Lewis. Aged 89 years. Private cremation. No flowers by request please but, donations in memory of Derek, if so desired, may be made to The Great North Air Ambulance Service and can be sent c/o Walker’s Funeral Directors, Chapel Street, Appleby-in-Westmorland, CA16 6QR.

STEPHENSON (née Taylor). — Peacefully, at The Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, on Thursday, 23rd February, Mary Isabel, of Clifford Road, Penrith, dear wife of the late Joseph, cherished sister of the late Stan and Lenny, and a sadly missed aunt, great-aunt and friend. Aged 98 years. Funeral service and interment at St Andrews, Greystoke, on Wednesday, 22nd March, at 1pm. If desired, donations in memory of Mary, may be made to Eden Valley Hospice and can be left at this service or sent c/o Walker’s Funeral Directors, Tynefield House, Penrith, CA11 8HY.

WESTERN. — Joseph George. Peacefully, at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, on Tuesday, 7th March, George, of Penrith, dearly loved husband of Maureen, much loved dad of Shirley, Christine, Barbara and Brian, devoted granda of Liam, Lee and Aidan, great-granda of Darcey and Ada, a dear fatherin-law, brother, uncle and well known by many. Aged 82 years. Funeral service at Eden Valley Crematorium, on Thursday, 23rd March, at 12-30pm. Family flowers only but, if desired, donations in memory of George which shall be divided between the MS Society and Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, may be left at the service, made online at www.walkersfunerals.co.uk or sent c/o Walker’s Funeral Directors, Tynefield House, Penrith, CA11 8HY.

YOUNG. — Robert John. Peacefully, at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, on Thursday, 2nd March, after a short illness, Bob, of Stainton, Penrith, dearly loved father of Fiona and Ian, father-in-law of Colette, loving grandad of Ross, Rebecca, Michael and Matthew, great-grandad of Elijah and a dear uncle of John and Anne. Special grateful thanks to all the staff on the Willow wards at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, for the wonderful care and kindness Betty received, and for the quiet care and support shown to her family (under especially difficult times for them as well as ourselves).
