Death notices

ASHBRIDGE. — Peacefully, on Thursday, 16th February, at Silloth Convalescent Home, Silloth, Kathleen Mary, (formerly of Sharpe House, Caldbeck) a much loved and sadly missed aunt, great-aunt and a good friend to many. Aged 92 years. A private family cremation will take place at Carlisle Crematorium, on Friday, 3rd March, followed by a service of thanksgiving for Kathleen’s life at St Kentigern Church, Caldbeck, at 1pm. Family flowers only are requested but, if desired, donations in memory of Kathleen will be divided between Silloth Convalescent Home (cheques payable to Silloth Nursing Home) and St Kentigern Church, Caldbeck, may be left at the service or sent c/o Glyn Jones Funeral Directors, 12, Battlebarrow, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria, CA16 6XS.

BEDFORD. — Barbara. At Melmerby, on Thursday, 9th February, 2023, peacefully, with Jackie, Bob and Helen. Aged 97 years. Private cremation. A thanksgiving memorial service will be held at St John the Baptist Church, Melmerby, on Monday, 27th February, at 10-30am. Any donations in memory of Barbara will be split between St John the Baptist Church and Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland and can be left at the service or sent c/o Richardsons Funeral Directors, Victoria Road, Penrith, CA11 8HR.

COLE. — Richard. Richard of Kirkbride, Wigton, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Tuesday, 14th February, at the Eden Valley Hospice, surrounded by his loved ones, partner Sarah, son Sam, daughter-in-law Sommer and brother Charles. Richard will be missed by all his friends and family and no more so than his granddaughter Olive. His celebration of life is to be held at Carlisle Crematorium, on 1st March, at 11am. COOPER. — Peacefully, at The Cumberland Infirmary,Carlisle, on Friday, 17th February, after a short illness, Carol, of Cumwhinton, (formerly of Hallbankgate and High Hesket) dearly loved wife of the late David, much loved mam of the late JD, dear daughter of Joyce and the late Geoff. Carol will be sadly missed by all her family and many friends. Aged 59 years. Funeral service at Carlisle Crematorium, on Monday, 6th March, at 11-40am. DAVIS. — Suddenly, but peacefully, on Monday, 20th February, at The Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, John Stanley (Stan), of High Street, Kirkby Stephen, a sadly missed and much loved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and a good friend to many. A private family interment will take place on Friday, 3rd March, in Kirkby Stephen Cemetery, followed by a service to celebrate Stan’s life in Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church, at 2-30pm. Family flowers only are requested but, if desired, donations in memory of Stan will be given to Diabetes UK and may be left at the service or sent c/o Glyn Jones Funeral Directors, 12, Battlebarrow, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria, CA16 6XS.

FLINT. — Peacefully, at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, on Tuesday, 14th February, Norman, of Glenridding, dearly loved husband of the late Dacé. Aged 78 years. Funeral service at Eden Valley Crematorium, on Friday, 3rd March, at 2pm. HARRIS. — Joseph Hugh (Joe), died 1st February. Aged 90 years. Memorial service at St. John the Evangelist Church, Plumpton, on Friday, 10th March, at 1pm. HARWOOD. — Annette(née Hudleston). Formerly of Watermillock. Died peacefully, at home, in Carlisle, on Monday, 20th February. Aged 88 years. Darling wife of Christopher, beloved mother of Rupert, Felicity and Theresa, grandmother of Emilia and six more, great-grandmother of two. She was a true character and will be deeply missed. HIGGINS. — Sandy, aged 73 years, of Temple Sowerby, Penrith, died peacefully, at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, on Friday, 17th February, beloved husband of Jenny, much loved father of James and Tim, he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Service and cremation at Eden Valley Crematorium, on Monday, 6th March, at 12-30pm. Family flowers only but, donations in memory of Sandy, will be divided between Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland and Patterdale Mountain Rescue Association and these may be made at the service or sent c/o Richardsons Funeral Directors, Victoria Road, Penrith, CA11 8HR

KELSO. — Suddenly, at home, on Saturday, 18th February, Richard, of Glenridding, Penrith, beloved husband of Lynn, special son of Mary and the late Austin, much loved father of Daniel, Clare and Dean and partners Emma and Steve, sadly missed brother of twin Graham and Martin. Aged 59 years. Service and interment at St. Patrick’s Church, Patterdale, on Thursday, 9th March, at 2pm. Please feel free to wear bright clothes. Peacefully, at Riverwell Beck Care Home, Carlisle, on Saturday, 18th February, Len, of Bampton (formerly of Denny Hill), dearly loved husband of Doreen, much loved dad of Ian, David, Chris, Hazel and Peter and a very dear grandad, great-grandad, father-in-law and brother. Aged 83 years. Funeral service at Eden Valley Crematorium, on Wednesday, 8th March, at 2pm. LITTLE (née Benstead). — Peacefully, on Tuesday, 14th February, at The Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, Lesley Isabel, of Glebe Close, Appleby, dearly loved wife of John, mother of David, mother-in-law of Terri and nana of Megan and Ellis. Aged 71 years. A funeral service will take place at The Sands Methodist Church, Appleby, on Friday, 10th March, at 11am, followed by interment in Appleby Cemetery. Suddenly, but peacefully, at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, with her family by her side, on Sunday, 12th February, 2023, Kay, beloved wife of the late Ronnie, dearly loved mam of Kevin and Karen, adored grandma, great-grandma, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, auntie and friend to many. Aged 85 years. Funeral service to be held at Carlisle Crematorium, on Tuesday, 7th March, at 11am. Aged 85 years. Service and cremation at Eden Valley Crematorium, on Friday, 3rd March, at 11am. PLANT. — Suddenly, at Dutton Lodge, Penrith, on Saturday, 4th February, Celia, beloved wife of Jim and a much loved mother. Aged 75 years. ROBINSON. — Peacefully, at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, 18th February, Ronald (Terry), of Croft Avenue, Penrith, dearly loved husband of Barbara, a loving dad, fatherin-law and grandad. Aged 86 years. Service at Christ Church, Penrith, on Friday, 3rd March, at 12-30 pm, followed by interment at Penrith Cemetery. Thank you to Benet Waterman for conducting a beautiful funeral service and to Heather Glen for providing for so many afterwards. Finally a huge thank you to Ian Blair for organising it all so sympathetically.

ELLWOOD. — Precious memories of a much loved husband, dad and granda, Lawrence “Lol”, died 27th February, 2021. Loved and remembered every day — Marjorie, Stephen, Andrea, Rob, Donna, Lisa, Lee, all seven grandchildren and great-grandchild.

HINDMARCH. — Treasured memories of David, a loving husband and father, died 25th February, 2008. Loved and remembered always — Brenda, Alan and Andrew.
