Last year’s garden competition attracted much more interest than we had anticipated, and allowed people to share the results of their labours – and what good results these were.
We are now starting to glimpse the light at the end of the Covid tunnel, but we aren’t back to normal just yet, so we decided to run the competition again this year, along similar lines to 2020.
The competition is free to enter for anyone who gardens anywhere within the area covered by Kirkoswald Parish Council. To enter you simply submit three photos of your garden, telling us who you are, and which of the categories you are entering, to gardencomp@kirkoswald.org.
Those categories are :
1. Large and lovely: for larger gardens
2. Abundant and productive: for allotments or vegetable plots
3. Petite and pretty: for patios and yards
4. Perfect in pots: for hanging baskets and containers
5. Wonderful for wildlife: planting and homes for pollinators, wildlife and more
There will also be an overall winner.
The only change to last year’s rules will be that last year’s winners cannot enter the category that they won, to give other people a chance, although they will of course be very welcome to enter any of the other categories.
The criteria is “Would I like to spend time in that garden?’
Howard ‘Keyboard’ Quinn will deal with the technical wizardry, and post the entries on the KEG website.
Things are beginning to sprout, so it isn’t too early to start taking photos. You have until July 15th.
