Plans to build 67 affordable homes in Penrith have cleared their final hurdle.
Eden council’s planning committee approved the proposal for the estate on land at White Ox Farm, Inglewood Road, in November, subject to a legal agreement including a £60,000 contribution for education provision by the developers, Atkinson Building Contractors Ltd and Riverside housing association.
The agreement was signed earlier this month, which means work can start on the scheme.
Atkinson Building Contractors Ltd and Riverside housing association want to create a 100 per cent affordable housing development — split between rented and shared ownership properties.
Previously, the application was refused by the committee after concerns over a perceived lack of connectivity with the rest of the town, and issues over housing density.
The latest application also includes a scheme detailing the routes and specifications of footpaths to link the site to the nearest existing footpaths.
