A trial date has been set in the case of a Penrith teenager accused of two intentional violent attacks on separate dates in the town.
Reece Jamie Troy (19) faces a total of four charges following two alleged incidents in the town centre.
During the first, on 1st October in the area of The Pinny pub, Burrowgate, a male is said to have suffered cuts and bruises to his head and face.
Troy is alleged to have wounded that male with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, and faces a second alternative charge which alleges wounding without intent.
Police have said a second incident occurred on 24th November, at the rear of Penrith’s Devonshire Arcade, off Sandgate. A male is said to have suffered a fractured eye socket, cuts and bruises.
Troy is accused of causing that complainant grievous bodily harm with intent to do so, and also faces a second alternative charge alleging that he unlawfully and maliciously caused him grievous bodily harm without intent.
Troy made his first appearance at Carlisle Crown Court on Friday. During a short hearing in front of Judge Michael Fanning, no pleas were entered in light of submissions made by his barrister, Kim Whittlestone. However, a single provisional trial date was listed for 10th June.
The case was adjourned and Troy is next due to appear at the crown court on 22nd January, when pleas to the allegations are likely to be entered. In the meantime Troy, of Eamont Mews, Penrith, remains remanded in custody.
