Several people have been fined by the courts after they were caught breaking coronavirus restrictions.
The cases were dealt with at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Monday where Liam Simpson (21), Kings Head Court, Bridge Street, Appleby, was charged with being outside of his home address, without reasonable excuse, during the emergency period of coronavirus restrictions at Alston on Saturday 2nd May.
The charge was proved in his absence and Simpson was fined £220 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
Five further charges were brought against people from out of the area travelling into Penrith and Keswick.
This included:
- Thomas Kiskis (31), Conniburrow, Milton Keynes, who was caught in Keswick on 19th May. He was ordered to pay a total of £569;
- Mohammed Tahir Miah (27), Egerton Street, Oldham, who was stopped on the M6 northbound near Penrith on 1st May and ordered to pay £263;
- David Morgan (23), Bothel, Wigton, caught in Keswick on 30th May and ordered to pay £569;
- Nicolae-tudor Stoica (32), Sidcup, Bexley, who was in Penrith without reasonable excuse on 2nd May and ordered to pay £339
- Cristian Tanasiu (27), Woodrouffe Terrace, Carlisle, also caught in Penrith on 29th April in breach of regulations and ordered to pay £339.
