Penrith Show celebrates farming and country life and aims to promote the good of agriculture and livestock breeding in and around the area.
The show, which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, provides a great family day out. Whilst retaining the tradition of a genuine agricultural emphasis, this year’s event is set to provide even more fun for all ages – as well as promoting British food and farming.
Agricultural shows are special occasions that bring communities from town and countryside together, in a spirit of friendly competition across a wide range of classes.
Leading the administration and running of the show this year is the new secretary Andy Ryder and his team at Pedigree Livestock Services Limited.
The event has grown in popularity with a wide range of competition classes for farm livestock, arable, horses, rabbits, poultry, dry stone walling, Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, show jumping, industrial and horticulture, and a host of local trade stands, food hall and rural crafts marquee. And the main ring attractions provide entertainment for all the family and friends.
And this year there is even more family fun to be had with the introduction of the new Family Entertainment Area with lots of free activities, shows and demonstrations to keep the youngsters entertained.
The new area will include magic performances and balloon modelling with Stu Di Doo, a junior warrior course, archery with Action Ants and a zoo as Zoobidoo bring their animals to the show.
There will also be a bubbleologist and Clever Dogs trainer Jen Cartmel will be demonstrating how she works with people who attend her dog training classes.
Plus this year there will be a treasure hunt where you could win a prize by picking up a map from the secretary’s tent or family entertainment area and following the clues around the show field.
Penrith Show also provides free parking near the field at Brougham Hall Farm, Penrith.
