An urgent plea is being made by a couple who are due to be wed at Glenridding on Saturday for a registrar to come forward to marry them.
Kirsti Taylor and Jonathon Bates, from Wakefield, have rushed to get all their plans in place to marry at The Inn on the Lake this weekend after taking a last-minute cancellation.
However Cumbria registrars have no availability due to the short notice and the couple are desperate for someone who is registered to marry them to come forward to help.
Kirsti and Jonathon picked the lakeside venue after Kirsti’s late grandfather used to bring her to Glenridding as a child.
The wedding was set for June but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and rebooked for the end of October.
However due to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s latest COVID restrictions rules only 15 people will be able to attend the wedding if it goes ahead in October — meaning that not all their immediate family, best men or bridesmaids will be able to celebrate their big day with them.
Instead the couple were thrilled when the Inn on the Lake contacted them with a last-minute cancellation for this Saturday and jumped at the chance. However this has turned to despair with everything in place expect someone to conduct the ceremony.
If they can’t find a good Samaritan to help them they will have to pick between going ahead with reduced numbers or face waiting until the hotel is next available in 2022.
Anyone who can help the couple are asked to contact Kirsti’s mum, Julie Taylor, on 07514696146.
