A man has suffered serious injuries following a collision between a car and a HGV on the A66 in the early hours.
Police were called at 12.45am to reports of a two-vehicle collision near Kirkby Thore.
The vehicles involved were a Mercedes HGV and a Ford Focus.
The driver of the Ford, a 38-year-old man from Glasgow, suffered serious injuries and was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The driver of the HGV was uninjured.
The road was closed for several hours whilst forensic collision investigation work and vehicle recovery was carried out.
